Calvert Cliffs State Park – Maryland

This past weekend was jam packed with visiting several of the Smithsonian’s (Natural History, Air and Space and the Hirshhorn) as well as a trip down to Calvert Cliffs State Park and the Textile Museum. All with the wonderful Kay whom I met on Twitter after she hosted a Valentine’s gift exchange!
I wanted to share a few photos from the state park adventure, and for a few snapshots from the rest of the weekend check out Kay’s blog by clicking here :)

Calvert Cliffs is located near Solomon’s Island, MD and is ~1.5hr drive from Baltimore and has a $5 entry fee. We hiked in along the red trail for about 2 miles until we reached the beach. The beach was surprisingly small but not too crowded the day we went. Supposedly you can find shark teeth and other fossils. Mainly we found a bit of drift wood, lots of agates and a few shells! I definitely want to go back and fossil hunt some more as well as check out the other trails!
Here are a few of the photos from the trip. You can follow me on Instagram (PhDstressrelief) to see more daily adventures, and of course, photos of Ludwig!

Clyburn Arboretum in Baltimore City, MD – April 2012

This past weekend we decided to enjoy the spring weather by riding our bikes and checking out Baltimore’s Clyburn Arboretum. Having lived in the city for coming up on 3yrs I was surprised that I had not yet heard of the arboretum much less visited! Luck for us, it was not a far ride (though it felt like 90% of it was uphill ….) the weather was nice, and it is a beautiful time of year!
Here are a few photos from our trip. If you are in the area I would recommend checking it out! It’s free, there are plenty of trails, and it’s pet friendly!

Cheers and have a great night!

2011 – What a Year

This year treated me well and as a result, absolutely FLEW by! I always remember my parents telling me that time just flew by and I did not feel like I could relate. This year was different!

This time last year my boyfriend and I were still in a long distance relationship while he was finishing up Pharmacy school. Needless to say that semester completely flew by. That semester for me was spent hanging out with friends, watching a lot of Ru’Paul’s Drag Race at the Hippo as well as many other nights out and about. I finished up my last required class (thank god!) and was able to enjoy a few months without class. May brought about Dylan’s graduation and his eventual move to Baltimore. We were fortunate enough to go to Crete, Greece for a few weeks for a conference as well as some much needed vacation time. The summer was spent settling into our new apartment and getting Dylan settled into work. I was able to open up my Etsy shop in August and lucky enough to go to Japan for a few days to give a talk. The last few months of the year flew by with 2 trips home to Idaho, a craft show and the unexpectedly busy Chirstmas season!

Instead of writing more, here are the highlights in photos and a few of my favorite creations :) May we all have a great and prosperous year ahead of us!
